USG: 50 Years of Rock-n the Bayou

Thursday, April 27, 2006 was a celebration in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the USG New Orleans Plant. Attendees included current and former employees and their families (some who had worked at the plant for over 40 years). The plant recently had gotten back online after being shut down due to hurricane Katrina. As Tour Managers for the USG’s Rock-On Tour, we were there with the #17 NASCAR show car, as was driver Matt Kenseth.  NASCAR is huge in the US, and it’s fans are passionate. Most of the events we worked on this tour were at building materials suppliers, Home Depots and other distributors. It was interesting to see how things operated at the source, one of the big USG factories itself. The weather was beautiful, the atmosphere was festive.  The employees were especially excited to celebrate and enjoyed the show of support from USG.

Random Trampling…but who sat on who?

No turtles were harmed in the taking of this photo, but the rabbit and sausage jambalaya last night was delicious! I gar-un-tee.
