Weekly Photo Challenge: Curves

Pikes Peak Highway

Pikes Peak Highway

If you’ve ever driven to the top of Pikes Peak in Colorado, you know that the 19 miles of curves and switchbacks are an unforgettable experience.  Believe it or not this same stretch of asphalt is used once a year for the car and motorcycle race called Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.  I can’t image trying to go any faster than we made it up these 156 turns.  The road begins about 15 minutes west of Colorado Springs at 7400 ft in altitude and climbs to over 14,000 ft at the summit.
