Queenstown’s Sister

After a last stop at Miles Better Pies (the best yet!), we were on to Queenstown, a center for adreniline activities like bungy, rafting, rope swinging, zorbing, skydiving, ETC.  For financial and time reasons, we passed on all of these and just took a look around.  Queenstown is a pretty, energetic city in a beautiful, natural setting.  It’s very tourist-friendly, maybe even tourist-centered.

Up the road an hour or so is Wanaka, a little sister to Queenstown, offering many similar activities, but on a smaller, more laid back scale.  We decided right away to stay a few days here.  Lake Wanaka was sparklingly inviting, and some great local trails in the surrounding mountains were calling to us as well.  A little exploration provided some more gorgeous views, and some delectable blue cod from Grumpy Norm, which we took down to the lake for a dinner picnic.  Our campervan park has great amenities this time, so we spent the rest of the evening drinking local pinot noir and watching movies in the lounge/kitchen area.
