We had a VERY early morning to make up for the flights we missed the previous afternoon. Sunrise, however, was gorgeous. Seeing the delta from this new perspective helped everythingfall into place. We were in a tiny four-seater (including the pilot and me in the co-pilot’s chair). Everything about the flight was spectacular. Journeys of giraffe, individual and groups of elephants, hippo, impala, zebras and herds of buffalo roamed below.
Safely back on the ground we compared notes on what we’d seen (since we went up in three planes) and climbed back on the truck to move on. We crossed the border at Muhembo and head toward Namibia’s Caprivi strip. Rainbow Camp is set on the shores of the Cubango River. There was a sort of deck hanging out over the river, and we could see and hear a hippo splashing around as we sipped our ciders or beers and took in yet another beautiful African sunset. The hippos came ashore near the tents again that night, and made quite a bit of noise.
We came to visit your Africa posts as we wanted to see where you’ve been! Botswana sounds amazing! Your descriptions of the animals (especially the impala and herds of buffalo!) remind us of our trip to Swaziland and South Africa! 🙂 I think you’re due for another trip to Africa…it’s been 5 years! 🙂 Happy travels! Thanks for stopping by Jill. We would go back to Africa tomorrow! Each place we visited was amazing in it own way. Thanks for stopping by.
