After a lunch break in Nata (halfway between Kasane and Maun) and several more hoof and mouth inspections, we arrived in Maun to the Sedia Hotel, where we’d camp one night in preparation for our delta trip. The Sedia Hotel looked rather nice, with a restaurant, bar, reception are, and very decent pool. We’d decided on the two-day trip into the delta, which took us further in, and gave us more time to explore and experience. VJ would stay behind with the truck while we set off in mokoros in the morning.
The Okavango Delta is the largest freshwater wetland in Africa. Since much of the surrounding areas of Botswana are arid and unforgiving bush the delta is a watery green oasis with very high concentrations of wildlife. We were excited to start the trip!
Yippee! I just checked the blog before my students arrive. Alas, this will ensure that I leave early today since I can not access the photos from the school connection. 🙂 Welcome back to communication!
