No sign of dolphins in Porpoise Bay this morning, but there were flurries! It was a cold, rainy night with howling winds, but we stayed fairly warm in our sleeping bags. The sun came out briefly, and we took advantage of low tide to take a look at a petrified forest….logs and stumps trapped in the rock under Curio Bay, a very odd sight.
We moved west along the Heritage Trail, past the wreck of the Ino, and spent a couple of hours in Invercargill. This was an expensive spot to catch up the blog, but it was getting much to far behind. Hopefully we’ll make it to Te Anau, gateway to Milford Sound, tonight.
BTW this is the first time Donny has let me drive!!!
More South Island photos
I’m glad you took time for the blog. I just have visions of you two getting the giggles about the silly sheep along the countryside. Sounds like the camper van was a good thing to rent. Continue your adventures and post some pixs. Enjoy yourselves. xo
How do you like driving on the wrong side of the road?
Is the tree you were sitting on in the photo petrified?

Dad–Driving on the other side is actually pretty easy to get used to…I thought a rotary might me tricky, but after Africa, Australia and NZ all being this way, it seems perfectly normal aat this point! HT
