To Market To Market

The market(feria fluvial) in Valdivia was small but hectic.  We wandered around watching the fishmongers and vegetable/fruit vendors selling their piles and piles for fresh stuff.  The fish and shellfish were all lined up on the side of the market that faces the river, and the enormous sea lions that inhabit the river lounged around in and out of the water looking for any scraps.  There were a wide variety of birds in attendance as well, making their presence loudly known.  There are signs along the river warning strollers and joggers that sea lions are wild and can bite, as they often come right up the shore and into the riverside park!  We bought some tasty cherries for the bus ride to Pucón later that day.
